In-Depth, One-on-One Interviewing

Socrates, our online automated moderator conducts interactive one-on-one interviews with both consumers and professionals. Built and programmed using our expertise in psychiatric interviewing, Socrates operates like a human moderator by conducting in-depth qualitative interviews and probing respondents for more detail and depth.

Presenting Topics
Socrates presents topics like human moderators do in groups or one-on-ones, to get respondents talking about their attitudes and opinions. Socrates sets up the topic of discussion, but the conversation is directed by the respondent, to provide a pure and unbiased view of the issues that are most relevant from the consumer perspective. Socrates follows up conversationally, based on what the respondent actually says, probing their comments deeply, to obtain an understanding of what truly matters and what really impacts their decision making.

Dynamic Probing
Socrates base intelligence allows for dynamic probing in any context. Dynamic probing uses the language of the respondent and presents back meaningful and contextually relevant probes to understand respondents' ways of defining ideas, further exploring elements of their comments and determining the implication of their ideas.

Targeted Probing
Socrates intelligence is also increased by our use of contextually relevant targeted probing. Like notes to moderators from the back room, Socrates is customized for each study to address industry specific, business specific, category specific and product specific ideas for probing – only when mentioned by the respondent, to preserve the flow of the conversation and avoid interview bias. Targeted probing gives Socrates the same intelligence you give to other moderators to make conversations and results specific to your research needs.
