Tim is passionate about the “AHA Moment” that occurs in everyday life! It can be as complex as a working session with insights, marketing and executive teams, or as simple as someone finding the punch line in a joke.
Tim enjoys experiencing these moments when he instructs cardio kickboxing classes, advising his local fraternity members, and with friends and family. His words to live by – “Have the day that you were meant to have.”
Vice President, Research
Andrea Joss is, at her core, a language nerd and a storyteller. After studying English, Rhetoric and Professional Communication, her entire career has been spent at Quester, honing her psychiatric interviewing techniques and linguistic analysis skills. After 16 years of writing in-depth interviews, analyzing language and managing project logistics, she has overseen thousands of qualitative interviews across numerous objectives, fields and brands. She has been closely involved with the development and evolution of Quester’s interviewing and analysis software, and now leads the Research department, working with her team to effectively apply these tools to engage and understand people, and truly bring their experiences to life.
Andrea is a mom of four (over a 17 year span) and thoroughly and enthusiastically embraces all things maternal. She is a shameless and proud holder of babies, baker of cookies, crier at commercials, driver of minivans and singer of Disney songs. She loves to read and cook, gardens very grudgingly and religiously reads Entertainment Weekly.
Ilene Lanine-Kettering, Ph.D.
Vice President, Strategic Design & Analysis
Ilene’s career in marketing research has a direct link to her background in behavioral sciences and linguistics. She has applied her research training at the University of Chicago and years as a custom marketing research supplier to understand the choices consumers make in their everyday lives and why. The depth of insight and actionability of her work has made her an industry leader in the field of custom consumer segmentation and path-to-purchase research.
Her consultative approach is always objectives-driven, applying the best, most cost effective tools, at a rich and rigorous level, to optimally respond clients’ insight needs. She is truly a hands-on researcher, not only designing and analyzing the research, but overseeing its execution through all stages.
When not at work, Ilene can most predictably be found working out. Her current workout obsessions are TRX and Zumba – not at the same time — they have not invented that yet. Her lifelong passion for language translates into a love of writing, mainly poetry, doing the N.Y. Times Crossword Puzzle and playing Words with Friends. She is also quite passionate about Social Action as a form of giving back to the world. As the mom of two grown daughters she and her husband now have the luxury of travel, often going to Diving destinations, like Bonaire, Mahujal Mexico, and Curacao, though their most recent destination was Israel. Finally, she is the proud “parent” of Rocky and Rosie, two Havanese canines who add joy to every day.
Vice President, Corporate Strategy
Garrett McGuire has studied people since shortly after birth, carrying his curiosity for understanding behavior and ways of thinking into adulthood and his career. He is a brand and research strategist who has focused his career around the studies of advertising, consumer psychology, and branding. Garrett applies that knowledge to help other researchers and executives understand their consumers and brands. While he specializes in advertising and strategic branding research, he also has experience in retail, food & beverage, non-profit, and sponsorship research as well.
Garrett holds a B.B.A in Marketing from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a M.A. in Advertising from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. His graduate thesis (“Developing marketing communications for Pure Michigan Hunt: A means-end chain analysis of Michigan Hunters”) is among his favorite and most memorable work to-date.
In addition to his day job, he also sits on the MSMR Advisory Board at Michigan State University and often visits to the campus for student engagement and mentoring.
Garrett was once a competitive singer and a member of an International traveling choir. He toured across Europe and stayed with families along the way, many of whom he still keeps in contact with today. In addition to music, he also has interest in (most) reality television and “good” coffee. It’s rare for these interests to come together at one time, but when it does it’s an experience that can’t be rivaled. He’s also a very proud husband and recently became father to wonderful little guy, Coen.
Vice President, Information Technology
Jereme has been with Quester since 2001 when he started as part of the team of programmers who developed Socrates, the World’s only software based online moderator. With a background in information technology and software engineering, Jereme is a valuable asset to the company. He is currently the IT Director and oversees the talented team that designs and implements the unique technology Quester uses to perform online qualitative market research and complex linguistic analysis.
A graduate of Iowa State University, Jereme holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems. He is a technology addict who constantly strives to better himself by learning new skills and concepts that can be applied to all phases of software development. Jereme is a proficient problem-solver who envisions business and technical perspectives to develop workable and profitable solutions. He and his team work tirelessly to ensure Quester remains on the cutting edge of market research.
In his free time Jereme enjoys reading, improving his health, and doing almost anything outdoors. His reading list typically includes self-improvement books along with the biographies of successful entrepreneurs such as Steve Jobs and John D. Rockefeller. During the summer Jereme can be found at the lake boating and working to improve his slalom skiing. Jereme is married and recently became the proud father of a beautiful little girl.
